The proposals prepared for inclusion in the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus" were considered at the meeting of the Public Consultative Council for the Development of Entrepreneurship in the Science, Technology and Innovation chaired by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus. First of all, it is the provision of benefits to scientific and technological parks and their residents for the payment of land tax. According to Alexander Shumilin, this exemption will increase the attractiveness of technology parks as sites for the organization of innovative and high-tech industries and will contribute to the development of the regions as a whole.
The issues of improving taxation with regard to the payment of patent fees were also discussed at the meeting. So, certain rates of patent fees are expected to be reduced by 30%, and it is supposed to establish preferential conditions for payment of patent fees in the amount of 25% of the established amount for organizations accredited as scientific institutions. At the same time, such conditions for payment of a patent fee will be valid for the first five years for inventions that are the result of scientific and scientific and technical activities and created at the expense of public funds.
